The Tale of 2 Cabbies. Marry the One Who Believes in Both Versions of You. And Hire the Person Who Does Hard Things.
For the past 20 years, I’ve been finding my way through books, work, and reflection. In pursuit of a rich life, I’ve developed an optimistic mindset, explored paths to financial freedom, and worked to build meaningful relationships. I share what I learn, hoping it’s useful to others on their journey too.
Here are this weeks insights:

(1) The Tale of 2 Cabbies — One Happy. One Unhappy.
I met two cabbies.
One told me that life is hard. He shares a room with ten others. He sends money back home. He misses his wife and two sons. But he makes five times the amount of money he would have made back home, so he continues.
One told me he likes what he does. He is at peace with his job. He also lives away from his family. He also sends money back home.
Same job.
Same hours.
Same pay.
One if happy. The other is unhappy.
There are a million behind them who would die to get the opportunity to do what they do. And there are a million ahead of them who are playing a very different game.
They both have been dealt their cards. How they interpret and play the game is now up to them.
(2) Marry the One Who Believes in Both Versions of You
If you find a girl who believes in your dreams more than you do.
Makes you want to be a better man.
Is willing to work alongside you to help you get there.
And is grateful for whatever you have right now, no matter where you are at.
JUST MARRY HER!
Because at the end of the day your spouse marries two people - the person you are and the person you want to become. Make sure they love both.

(3) I’d Hire the Loner at the Gym
Only 3 people at the gym!
Less than 1% of people voluntarily do hard things.
No one wants to do difficult things. In fact most people want to make their lives easier. They want to put in
- less effort
- less time
- less sweat
Now put yourself in the position of leadership.
Would you want someone in your team who goes through discomfort in isolation?
I would!
It says a lot about their mindset. It tells me a lot more about them than their CV or LinkedIn profile would.
In fact one of my interview questions is - "what do you do everyday that is hard?"
Thank you for reading. If you’re curious about the businesses I build, here they are:
